Christmas Paper Plates

Christmas Plate Ornaments

Paper plates are one of our favorite things to do crafts with. It gives us the perfect canvas for painting because they're nice and absorbent, and we also don't have to cut everything out. Saves me a lot of time!

My toddler is able to handle all of the painting, while I cut out some shapes that we will glue on after. A really fun and interactive project that we can do together. And the results are just adorable!

  1. Paint paper plates different colors: brown, green and pink.
  2. Cut out construction paper shapes for eyes, hats, noses, antlers, ears, ornaments, etc. to fit with your designs.
  3. Glue shapes onto paper plates (after they have dried). Add features like pupils and mouth with marker. Use pipe cleaners for arms on the snowman and tinsel on the tree!

Paint plates brown. Cut out antlers, ears, eyeballs and red nose (of course)! Have your child glue down the different shapes onto the plates. I stapled the antlers and ears on so they were more secure.

Paint plates green. Cut out holly berries and a red bow. Cut out the center of the plate. This is an easy one! Let your little one glue everything down. Adorable!

Paint plates pink. Cut out beard, hat parts, eyeballs and a nose. How cute is he!? Glue it all down and draw a little smile on his face.

No painting required! Staple 3 plates together. Cut out a hat and a lot of black circles for the coal for eyes, mouth and buttons. And of course a carrot nose! I used pipe cleaners for the stick arms and hot glued them so they were secure.

Paint plates green. Staple two plates together and cut out to look like a tree. Doesn't have to be perfect! Draw some lines on the plate. Have your child paint on some light bulbs with different color paint. Glue on candy canes, ornaments, pipe cleaner-tinsel, whatever you want!
