A question Emilie and I often hear is "how much is a serving of Mommee Coffee?" This is a great question! The answer to the question is dependent upon what you consider to be a standard cup size and how strong you drink your coffee.
The industry definition of one serving of coffee is 6 fluid ounces. It is fairly standard for 1 Tablespoon of coffee to be used to make a 6 fluid ounce cup of coffee.
Most Americans, however, drink a cup of coffee that is 12 to 20 fluid ounces. Your standard mug holds 12 fluid ounces. A Starbucks Short is 8 ounces, a Grande is 16 ounces, a Venti is 20 ounces and a Venti Iced is 24 ounces. And it is important to note that Starbucks uses 2 Tablespoons of coffee for every 6 fluid ounces of water. We suggest starting with 1 Tablespoon and, if desired, increasing from there.
Interesting note - using the standard definition of 1 Tablespoon of ground coffee for every 6 fluid ounces of water... a 12 oz bag of Mommee Coffee contains about 62 servings.
For those of you utilizing reusable k-cups, we do not have specific guidelines. We think that your tablespoon is a wise place to start. You can then play around with adding more or less and see how that affects taste.
